Che is a boy's and girl's baby name of Spanish origin, an Argentine Spanish expression used as a familiar form of address (roughly equivalent to 'hey' or 'mate'), popularized globally as the nickname of the Argentine-Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Guevara, meaning 'hey' or 'comrade' — a form of address transformed into an icon.

With over 2,000 recorded births, Che is inseparable from Che Guevara (1928–1967), the Argentine Marxist revolutionary who helped Fidel Castro come to power in Cuba and became one of the most iconic symbols of 20th-century revolutionary politics.
