Daud

Daud is a boy's baby name of Arabic origin, the Arabic and Urdu form of David, from the Hebrew Dawid, of uncertain etymology but traditionally meaning 'beloved' — the name of the prophet-king who slew Goliath, composed the Psalms, and united Israel.

Daud is used across the Muslim world — in Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Swahili, and Indonesian communities — as the form of the prophet David's name.
